Three Terrible Things ‘Experienced’ Computer-Builders Will Tell You

October 6, 2012 By Brent Hale Leave a Comment

build your own gaming computerYou’ve just taken the all-important first-step towards entering into awesomenesshood… you’ve decided to build your own gaming computer.

Congratulations!

Now get ready to receive some bad advice from the people who call themselves experts…

Gamers who build their own gaming computer are a rare breed—but that is only because most people just don’t consider the prospect of building their own computer. Most people have never even looked inside of their computer.

So, it’s a natural thing for the average gamer to be intimidated by the whole building process. That’s why simply deciding to build one makes you so awesome.

When you do overcome the intimidating prospect of building a fully-functional computer, you are highly rewarded with a strong feeling of accomplishment. In fact, from a personal standpoint, I’m not sure if there are a handful of things that I could think of that present a better experience than does building your own computer.

Unfortunately, for some gamers who build their own computer, that introductory into awesomenesshood goes straight to their head.

PC Gaming vs. Console Gaming: Is PC Gaming Really that Much More Expensive? Not If You Look at the Bigger Picture . . .

October 1, 2012 By Brent Hale 3 Comments

gaming computerTravel to any gaming forum in cyber space and search for topics related to ‘PC gaming.’ Now sit back and observe the large audience of people who bash the expensive nature of PC gaming.

Yes it’s true. PC gamers do spend more money in order to play their favorite games at acceptable levels. And, yes, these gamers could have spent less money on a popular console like the PlayStation 3 or the Xbox 360.

But how much less?

As it turns out, from an economical standpoint, not that much…

Most non-PC-gamers out there believe that, in order to get into PC gaming, they have to drop at least $1,000 on a new system. This may be true if you are looking at pre-built machines from manufacturers like Alienware. (Which we don’t recommend that you buy. And, here’s why.) However, a good gaming computer can be built with relative ease for less than $700 and will generally out perform any pre-built machine that costs twice as much.

What Makes A Good Gaming Computer Good? Use Our Elite-3 Buying Method to Find Out

September 22, 2012 By Brent Hale 2 Comments

good gaming computersOn PC gaming forums and websites all over the internet, one common gaming-related question persists: “Is this a good gaming computer?”

This question is always proceeded by a list of components and specifications of the computer that the asker is considering purchasing/building. And after enough time passes, this question will garner a large number of different answers that will explain why the computer listed is or isn’t a quality system.

Some answers will differ and some answers will be the same. Advice-givers will argue over who is the best and worst of computer component manufactures.

You will probably hear people talk about how “shitty” a certain power supply is, or how you are paying way too much for a component when you could get one that costs less and performs the same.

But is it possible that these advice-givers have bought and reviewed every single computer component on the market?

Not likely…

August 12, 2012 By Brent Hale 2 Comments

good gaming computersWe’re about half way through our Gaming Computer Component series here on Elite Gaming Computers and today we’re going to talk about how to choose memory.

Memory, or RAM, is another crucial component that will play a huge role in your new system’s ability to operate efficiently.
